Saturday October 7, 2017

End: 3:00 pm

A once popular event, a canoe and kayak outing on beautiful Pisgah Reservoir, is being revived this October 7th by the Friends of Pisgah.  The Reservoir features numerous islands and a varied shoreline with stunning rock formations. The largest body of water in the Park is remote so this event is a rare opportunity.  All are invited.

Folks will assemble at the lower Pisgah State Park trailhead parking lot on NH Route 119 between Ashuelot and Winchester so we can ready the boats for hauling.  Car parking will be at the upper lot on Reservoir Road in Pisgah State Park.

The event will run from 10AM to 3 PM and preregistration is required.  Contact FOP at FriendsofPisgah@gmail.com to register.   Complete and sign the attached registration form.  Either send the signed form to: Friends of Pisgah, Inc., PO Box 134, Chesterfield, NH 03443 or bring with you to the event.

FOP volunteers will shuttle boats and gear to the water up the steep road to the Reservoir where parking is limited.

Participants should bring their own boat; paddles; a life preserver for each person is mandatory; water and lunch.  Be prepared to hike from the upper parking lot. It is a steep road to the Reservoir as parking is limited to boat transport vehicles. Those unable to hike can be accommodated in boat transports upon request.

The rain date will be the following day Sunday, 10/8/17.

The Friends of Pisgah are meeting at the Kilburn Trailhead off Route 63 in Hinsdale Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at 10:00 am to work on the Town Forest trail.  This trail is on the current state park map and runs from the northeast corner of Kilburn Loop to the junction of the Baker Pond trail and the Pisgah Ridge trail.  It passes both the two bunkers remaining from the 1960 era explosives testing of the A. D. Little company and the mill site at the outlet of Baker Pond.  Our goal  to clear the trail and hang new trail signs.

Bring water and lunch.  Bring your own tools or use ours.  Hope to see you there.
