Lauren Canario, Jim Johnson, David Weisel, Doug Favreau and his dog
Hermes, Matt Edson, John Hudachek, Gary Montgomery and Pisgah State Park
Manager Whip Newell met at 8 am on Saturday, July 12th at the Pisgah
Visitors Center in Winchester.  The goal of the day was to rebuild the
decking and hand rails on the second bridge from the south end of the
South Woods Trail.

We drove slowly in Matt's and Whip's trucks down Old Chesterfield Road to the Nash Trail.  There Matt unloaded his ATV and trailer.  Whip drove his truck, Matt his ATV and a group of us hiked the Nash Trail to the Fullam Pond Trail where the lumber had been transported the previous Thursday.  Matt's ATV & trailer transported the tools and lumber from there to the first bridge on the South Woods trail (that needs redecking next year) - many trips were required. We carried by hand and wheel barrow all the tools and materials to the bridge to be redecked.  The crew worked great together – one group transporting materials and two other groups removing the old rails and decking and installing the new lumber from each side.  The sagging stringer on the northeast corner was heightened.  We were done by 1:30 and back to our vehicles at the Visitors Center by 2:00.  Thanks to all for a job well done!
